TAWAI - A voice from the forest takes us on an immersive cinematic journey through Borneo, India and the tributaries of the Amazon, to meet the indigenous people who live in harmony with the forests that are integral to their survival, and ours. Eighty per cent of the world’s forests, vital in regulating the world's climate, have been destroyed or degraded due to deforestation and intensive farming practices. The survival of indigenous peoples like the Penan in Malaysia and the Munduruku in Brazil is under threat as they become physically and spiritually disconnected from the natural environments that surround them, and are denied rights to the land that they inhabit.
You can watch it with us at Scott Cinema (East Grinstead) , on 21 Mar 2018 at 20:00.
A third of the box office will go towards Greenpeace to end the illegal logging of the world’s ancient forests, and to protect the rights of the indigenous peoples. If you’d like to donate more, visit here to find out how.
